Centerville-area Software Company wins $25M Air Force research deal
A local software development company has landed a U.S. Air Force contract that could be worth up to $25 million, its third large military deal in less than six months. Edaptive Computing Inc., at 1245 Lyons Road, was awarded the seven-year contract late Wednesday to help develop protection tools and techniques to boost hardware and software security. The work also is expected to drive changes in commercial-off-the-shelf systems for the Defense Department. It came from Air Force Research Laboratory at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base.Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. The contract is good news because it is driving expansion at Edaptive and shows the Dayton region can compete for large defense contract awards. Anju and Praveen Chawla, co-owners of the 60-employee company, tell me they expect to hire about 10 new employees during the next six months because of this contract. That includes computer scientists, computer engineers/electrical engineers as well as program managers. In July, Edaptive won a $20 million Air Force contract to help the Large Aircraft Infrared Countermeasures Program office improve its operations. ( Click here to read that story). Right before that, it landed a $4 million deal to support rapid technology transition. Founded in 1997, Edaptive has grown by helping customers make their business processes and systems more efficient and effective. It supports a variety of defense and commercial clients and is the 17th largest defense contractor in the region, according to Dayton Business Journal research. The company touts itself as the only small business in Ohio one of nine in the United States with the highly-sought after CMMI Level 4 certification, which is used largely by software developers.
